Residents of the Sila area of Sudhir, adjacent to West Amurbunia village of Morelganj, adjacent to Jiudhara station in East Sundarbans, were terrified after hearing the tiger's roar.

On Monday (January 30) morning, Jiudhara station officer of Sundarban East Forest Division Mohammad Shahjahan confirmed this information. Earlier on Sunday (January 29) evening, the roar was heard.

He also said that there is only one canal (known as Mora Bholandi) between the forest and West Amurbunia village. Vigilant guarding is being done to prevent tigers from crossing the canal and entering the village.


Morelganj

  • Morelganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saidur Rahman said that the tiger roared on the banks of the canal adjacent to West Amurbunia village. The police force is also alert. Police personnel will also work jointly with the BTRT team and the Forest Department if necessary.

CPG president Khalil Jamaddar also said that from Thursday morning to Friday morning, they guarded a group of 12 people along with the villagers, including two forest guards. Since evening, they roamed about 10 km area near the forest with flashlights and sticks in hand. He said that they will be on guard every night.
