Judgment on recognition of mother as guardian on January 24

The verdict will be given on January 24 whether the mother will be recognized as the guardian of the child or not.
A joint bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Khairul Alam of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court gave this order on Thursday morning.

In April 2007, according to various media reports, the Rajshahi Education Board refused to issue an admit card to a student in Thakurgaon for the SSC exam because the student failed to fill the required father's name in her information form before participating in the secondary school examination.
The girl was raised by her mother after her biological father left them. Three human rights groups, including BLAST, work in this regard. On August 2, 2009, they filed a joint public interest writ on behalf of the young woman. In view of that writ, the court issued the rule at that time.

At the same time, the court also wants a list of which education boards have recently insisted on giving the information of both the parents of the students. It was also ordered to submit a report seeking to know about the arrangements for participation in the examination in the case of students who do not want to disclose their father's name.
On 6 June 2021 human rights organization BLAST filed a supplementary affidavit on behalf of the petitioners. After the final hearing of the writ, the High Court fixed the date of judgment on January 24 on Thursday morning.
