According to the constitution, the national parliament elections will be held within 90 days before the end of the current parliament term. In that case, the 12th National Parliament election will be held at the end of December this year or at the beginning of January next year. In this situation, even if BNP does not come, Awami League will remain firm in its current position in terms of elections.

The current Awami League government will be in charge during this election. However, BNP has been saying that it will not participate in the elections under the Awami League government. The BNP is continuing its agitation demanding the resignation of the Awami League government and elections under a caretaker government.

Awami League does not want to bring back the caretaker government system, which was canceled by the High Court's verdict, despite BNP's agitation. Awami League has taken a strict stance on this matter. Awami League is not thinking about any kind of negotiation with BNP or any kind of compromise to bring BNP to elections.

The government and Awami League policy-making level leaders said that the caretaker government was canceled long ago by the court's verdict. The last two elections were held with a constitutionally elected government in charge after the caretaker government was abolished. The next election will also be held while the current elected government is in power. The election will be conducted by the Election Commission.

They claim that BNP took part in the 2018 elections by following the constitution. Earlier, the elections did not stop because BNP did not come in the 2014 elections. To disrupt that election, BNP-Jamaat created continuous agitation and unstable situation in the country. Still, that election was held at the time fixed by the constitution. The next election will also be held on schedule.

Awami League and government policy makers said that according to the constitution, the elections will be held while there is an elected government and no concession will be given to the BNP's demand for a caretaker government. This is the political position of Awami League. And already, BNP has started a movement to demand the resignation of the Awami League government. Awami League leaders said that there is no opportunity or need for talks with BNP in this situation.

However, if the Awami League withdraws from the demands of the canceled caretaker government and accepts the elections according to the constitution, then the Awami League will think about negotiations if necessary. But they also said that no concession will be made to the demand for the resignation of the current government and elections under the caretaker government.

When asked about this, Awami League presidium member Abdur Rahman told Banglanews that since they have started a movement to demand the resignation of this government, there is no opportunity to discuss with them. The subject of discussion can come only when they withdraw from this demand. If we move away from these claims then it can be seen.

He said, democracy will not be harmed if BNP does not come to the polls. The election will not be sitting, it will be held on time. Apart from BNP, there are other parties to choose from. I think the attempt to make BNP essential in the election is also part of the conspiracy.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury told BanglaNews that BNP wants to bring an unelected government to vote, this is not the case. They are well aware that they will surely be overwhelmed at the polls. Their movement aims to create anarchy. Whether BNP came to the election or not is not a big deal, we have to see whether the people came or not. People's participation in elections is important, people's voting is important. In 2014, BNP did not come to the polls, but the people voted correctly. Those whose aim is to create anarchy cannot be negotiated with.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim told BanglaNews that to get the people's mandate, they have to come to the elections. We are preparing for the elections. BNPO will come to the election. This is our expectation. It is not a matter of feeding someone with rice. Such is the case with children. But, this is not the case with political parties and politics. There is nothing to call here.
