Death of patient due to wrong treatment, case against 4 doctors
A case has been filed against four doctors of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, alleging the death of a patient due to various mistakes including hernia operation and perforation of the intestine during gallstone operation.
Ahmed Rafi, the son of the deceased patient, filed the case in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir's court on Thursday (January 12).
The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherebangla Nagar police station to take the complaint as a statement.
After examination, gallstone operation was decided. Dr. half an hour after the operation. Nadeem said, the patient had hernia, the operation was done. But the doctors did not tell the patient's relatives about the hernia during the examination.
Those who have been accused in the case are - the doctor of surgery unit-1 of the hospital Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Dr. Nadeem Ahmed, Dr. Tanya and Dr. Arafat.
Helal Uddin, bench assistant of the concerned court, confirmed the case and the order to Dhaka Post.
During the operation, the patient's gut is also perforated. The doctors kept the matter a secret. Due to complications related to this, if the infection spreads in the patient's body, it causes fever, diarrhea and abdominal swelling. Later, the doctors admitted that they were wrong.
It is known from the complaint of the case that Dr. Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital Surgery Unit-1 for gallbladder stone operation on December 3. A woman named Marufa Begum Mary was admitted under Mostafizur Rahman. After various tests including ultrasonogram, gallstone operation was decided. Later on December 18, he was operated. Dr. half an hour after the operation. Nadeem said, the patient had hernia, the operation was done. But the doctors did not tell the patient's relatives about the hernia during the examination.

Meanwhile, during the operation, the patient's gut was also perforated. But the doctors kept the matter a secret. Six days after the operation, on December 24, the patient was informed about the intestinal perforation. Later, a second operation was decided. It is informed that the doctors will bear all the medical expenses. Then the operation was done again. The patient was taken to the cabin from the ICU on January 3, 24 hours after the operation. As his condition worsened, he was again admitted to the ICU. Marufa Begum died the next day on January 4.

After this incident, the victim's family went to Sherbangla Nagar police station to file a case. The authorities advised them to go to court instead of taking the case. The son of the dead woman came to the court today and filed a case.
