Agriculture Minister said that due to various misleading information spread in newspapers and social media, there is a lot of misconception about time broiler meat among the people.

Broiler chicken meat is a safe food and there is no risk to public health, said Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak. He said this in a press conference at the secretariat on Thursday (January 12). The press conference was organized to highlight the results of the research conducted to find out whether broiler chicken meat contains harmful ingredients for human health or not. Abdur Razzak said that broiler chicken meat has much lower antibiotic and heavy metal residues than the maximum tolerated levels. Hence there is no health risk in consuming broiler meat.

He said broiler chicken is the cheapest and most readily available meat source in Bangladesh. This meat contains amino acids, vitamins and minerals, which help in body building, intellectual development and immunity.

The Agriculture Minister said that due to various misleading information spread in newspapers and social media, there is a lot of misconception about Time Broiler meat among the people. Reduces human broiler meat intake. This has a major detrimental effect on the broiler industry. Apart from this, the idea that waste is used in chicken feed is completely baseless, he said.

Highlighting the research data, the minister said, this research was conducted on broiler chicken meat under the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council from January to June last year. Samples of meat, bone and composite and broiler chicken diets were collected from broiler farms, markets and supershops in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Barisal. Highlighting the results of the research, he said, among the antibiotics found in broiler chickens, oxytetracycline and doxycycline and heavy metals, arsenic, chromium and lead were found to be low. It is not unusual, however, in amounts well below the maximum tolerable limit.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sh. Rezaul Karim, Agriculture Secretary Wahida Akhtar, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Nahid Rashid and Agricultural Research Council Executive Chairman Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar were present at the time.
