It is informed that according to Section-49 of the Public Service Act, 2018, BCS (Police) Cadre officer Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been appointed contractually for the post of Inspector General of Bangladesh Police for a period of one year and six months from January 12, 2023 to July 11, 2024. done

BCS police cadre 8th batch officer Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was appointed as IGP on 22 September 2022. Prior to this, he got grade-1 promotion on October 18, 2021. This officer was supposed to retire on January 11 after completing his service.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was born on January 12, 1964 in Srihail village of Shalla police station in Sunamganj. This officer, who holds a Master's Degree (Honours) in Sociology from Chittagong University, is the father of two sons and one daughter in his personal life. His wife is a staff professor at Holifamily Red Crescent Medical College, Dhaka and president of the Police Women's Welfare Association (PUNAK).
Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun joined as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on December 20, 1989 as an eighth batch officer of BCS (Police) cadre in 1986.
