Government is not afraid of new sanctions: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
Reports of diplomats writing to prevent new sanctions against government agencies or individuals have also been reported in the media. However, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam ruled out the possibility of any ban.
On Monday (January 09), State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said this in response to questions from journalists. The State Minister for Foreign Affairs said that the government is not afraid of imposing any new restrictions on the country's law and order forces from the United States or Western countries.
On December 31, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen sent a letter to the Bangladesh mission abroad, highlighting the possibility of a new ban and giving instructions to be ready to prevent it if anything happens. News about this has also been published in the media.
The letter referred to the sanctions imposed by the US on RAB last year and asked the missions to stay in close contact with the governments of the countries concerned.
The Minister of State said that our continuous engagement with the United States is continuing. There have been some misunderstandings. We are working on the ban that the United States gave. For this reason, some may be more interested in the relationship between Bangladesh and the United States. Due to increased interest, BNP-Jamaat took the initiative of hunting fish by muddying the waters.
He said they were expecting another ban on December 9-10. On that date they called a public meeting. How dependent they are on lobbyists and propaganda machines is proof of that.
