US does not want caretaker government: Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, 'The United States wants fair and impartial elections in Bangladesh, they do not want a caretaker government. They want elections according to the laws of the land.
On Friday (April 14) afternoon, he said this in response to questions from reporters after the financial donation ceremony on behalf of Momen Foundation among the helpless and needy.
He said in Sylhet on Friday after his visit to the United States, America wants a fair and impartial election in Bangladesh; They do not want a caretaker government. They want elections according to the laws of the land.
In the afternoon in Sylhet city, he answered various questions of the journalists after giving financial donations to the helpless and needy on behalf of Momen Foundation.
Foreign Minister Momen recently returned to the country after visiting the United States. During his visit to the United States, he met with Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken. He also spoke to journalists about that meeting.
At this time, the minister said that the United States wants to be a partner in the development of Bangladesh. So they have a special focus on Bangladesh. The United States is pleased with the various steps taken, including the formation of a strong Election Commission, to ensure fair elections. However, the minister also said that active cooperation of all parties is necessary for a fair election.
At that time, the minister said about the Digital Security Act, its use was not correct in some cases. It will be rectified where it has been interrupted. America is satisfied with that. They did not ask to change this law. America said that the law should not be misused.
