Three-way clash in dense fog in Habiganj, five killed
5 people, including 4 members of the same family, were killed in a collision between a sand-laden truck, a microbus and a pickup van in Madhavpur, Habiganj. Two more people were injured in this incident. The accident happened in front of Matador Industry in Shahpur area of Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 4 am on Saturday (07 July).
The deceased are Salam Mia (35), Sihab Mia (12), Safia Begum (20) and Safia's 1-year-old child Habiba Jannat of Shuknadi village in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district, and Sadir Ali (35), a microbus driver of Dasbhag village of the same police station.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Shaestaganj Highway Police Station Jasim Mia said that around 4 am, a microbus was going to Kulaura in Moulvibazar with passengers returning from abroad. At this time, when reaching Shahpur area, the microbus encountered a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.

At the same time, a speeding pickup van rammed behind the microbus. Three people were killed on the spot and five others were injured. Shaistaganj Highway police reached the spot after receiving the information and sent the injured to Sylhet Osmani Medical College.

Two others died there. According to the police, it is initially believed that the accident happened due to dense fog.
