According to the agreement between the Saudi government and Bangladesh government, 27 thousand 198 people can go for Hajj this season. Out of this, 15,000 under government management and 12,198 under private management will be allowed to perform Hajj.

Abdul Latif, a member of the government party, the state minister for religion said that the quota of pilgrims in Bangladesh was 58 thousand 628 in 2009, which increased to 126 thousand 923 in 2019. But due to the Corona situation, like other countries, Bangladesh was given a limited quota of 60 thousand 146 pilgrims in 2022.

He said that the quota of pilgrims in 2023 is one lakh 27 thousand 198 people. Overall, the Hajj quota has increased by 148 percent from 2009 to 2023, which is a major milestone for the success of the current government.
In response to a question from the journalists, the Minister of Religion also said that the investigation is continuing against the Hajj agencies that committed irregularities last year, through which Bangladeshis who went for Hajj did not return, did not provide services as per the contract and violated the terms of the contract. Strict action will be taken against those agencies only after the investigation is over, he said.

Before this, the Hajj agreement was executed in Makkah, Saudi Arabia on January 14. The Bangladesh side was attended by the Minister of Religion Principal Matiur Rahman and Saudi-Umra Affairs Minister Dr. Mohammed Saleh Bin Taher Bentan.
