The fire incident took place on the night of Tuesday (31 January) local time. It is not yet known how the fire started.
According to the Indian media, the name of the multi-storied building where the fire took place is 'Ashirvad Apartment'.

- Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his condolences to the victims. In a tweet, he said that the district administration is conducting rescue operations during wartime operations. The injured are being taken to hospital.
Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kuman said that in the evening, the 13-storey Arshibad tower of Zoraftak, the busiest area, caught fire. 10 people have been rescued. They are severely burned. The injured have been sent to medical. The rescue is over. However, the exact number of casualties is not yet available. The police and fire departments will work together.
