Before this, a woman named Rubina Akhtar (45) was crushed under the private car of Azhar Zafar Shah, a sacked teacher of the university, on December 2 in the Dhaka University campus. Without stopping the car, he dragged the woman for about a kilometer to Neelkhet. Later the locals arrested the private car and thrashed the teacher. Later the woman was rescued and taken to the hospital where the doctor declared her dead.

Then on December 3, Rubina Akhter's brother Zakir Hossain filed a case against Zafar Shah under the Road Transport Act. At that time he was under treatment in police custody in Dham. He was brought to prison when he recovered somewhat. He remained in prison until his death.
