The prices of ginger and eggs have increased, there is no relief in rice
The price of eggs has increased again in the country's market. On the other hand, the prices of ginger and garlic have also increased. Meanwhile, there is still no relief in the price of rice. However, the price of sugar has decreased slightly due to the news of import from India. This image was seen on Friday (January 13) morning in different markets of the capital.
Ejazul Haque, an egg seller there, said that there are no eggs in the wholesale market. Because of that now every dozen has to be sold extra 15 rupees. Last week too, the price of eggs was Tk 115-120 a dozen. Among them, eggs from each dozen farms are sold at the price of Tk 130 in Boubazar of Hajipara.
He said that eggs are not available as per demand even with insistence. Wholesalers said that this situation increases the demand for eggs due to winter.
However, in some local markets, eggs are being sold for 125 taka per dozen. 42 taka is being taken now.
On the other hand, the increase in the price of farm chicken eggs has also affected domestic chicken and duck eggs. Each Hali duck egg is now Tk 75. Which is five rupees more. Similarly, domestic chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 65-70.
On the other hand, the price of ginger and garlic has increased during the week. Ginger is being sold at Tk 150-200 per kg in the market. Which was between 120-140 taka. Apart from this, the price of garlic which was between Tk 80-100 has now increased to Tk 120-150.
According to Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the price of garlic has increased by 20 percent and the price of ginger by 40 percent within a week.
Wholesalers in Shyambazar are blaming the increase in ginger-garlic prices on short supply of the product. They claim that the price of ginger and garlic has increased in China. Besides, there is a shortage of native ginger-garlic.
On the other hand, the price of sugar has decreased slightly in the market. Sugar, which was earlier sold at Tk 115-120, is now retailing at Tk 107-115. Although the maximum price set by the government is 107 rupees. Which was fixed two months ago but till now sugar has not been available at that price.
In this regard, Sumon Hawladar, a businessman of Karwan Bazar in the capital, said that the price of open sugar has decreased a little for two days. Yesterday I heard news that sugar is being imported from India. It has an impact on the market.
On the other hand, two weeks ago the price of rice was on the downward trend. But that's not a relief. Then the price was reduced by 2-3 rupees. Again, the price of rice has not come down to mention. Considering the gap of a few months, the price of rice is still very high.
The sellers said that now the market is Tk 48-52 per kg of Guti Swarna rice. Pajam and BR-28 varieties of medium sized rice can be bought at Tk 58-60 per kg. However, the price of small or miniket rice did not decrease. This quality rice is still being sold at Tk 72-75 per kg.
Better than that is the vegetable market. The prices of winter vegetables are low due to abundant supply. Most of the vegetables are being sold at the rate of Tk 30-40 per kg except two or three. Especially beans, turnips, cauliflower, cabbage, papaya, radish and new potatoes are being bought at this price. On the other hand, increasing the supply, onions are being sold at the rate of Tk 40.
Besides, broiler chicken is now being bought at Tk 150-155 per kg. However, the price of beef remains unchanged at Tk 700 per kg. Bargains were seen in the fish market as before.
