The pledge came at Monday's meeting overseen by leader Kim Jong Un after South Korea and the United States conducted joint air drills last week.
According to the official Korean Central News Agency, the Korean People's Army's operations and combat exercises to continuously perfect combat readiness were at the top of the agenda.

North Korea celebrated the anniversary of the founding of its armed forces on Wednesday and the country will observe the 'Day of the Shining Star' on February 16. This day is the birthday of Kim Jong Il, son of North Korea's founder Kim Sung and father of Kim Jong Un.
Seoul and Washington's move to step up joint military exercises after a year of banned weapons tests has angered Pyongyang. And this is being seen as a rehearsal for their aggression.
