Foreign liquor is coming under the guise of legal goods

Heli Customs recovered 23 bottles of foreign liquor from a truck loaded with husks imported from India at Heli land port in Dinajpur. A truck driver named Gautam Roy (42) has been arrested in this incident.

On Sunday (January 15) around 7:30 in the evening, these liquors were recovered from the Indian truck that arrived at Hili land port, online media Bangla Tribune reported in a report. The arrested truck driver Gautam Roy is a resident of Komarvola village in Balurghat, India.

In this regard, Bayjid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Hilli Land Customs Station, told Bangla Tribune, "I received information from intelligence agencies that an Indian truck is carrying liquor. Based on that information, a raid was conducted on the Indian truck inside the Heli land port on Sunday night. At that time, 23 bottles (one liter each) of foreign liquor kept in a special manner were recovered from inside the cabin of the truck.”

He further said, “The truck driver has been arrested in this incident. The importer-exporter is not involved, the driver himself has admitted to us that he is involved. A case will be filed against him and he will be handed over to the police station.”

However, Bayjid Hossain said that the police will investigate whether anyone from Bangladesh is involved in this.

Meanwhile, truck driver Gautam Roy said, “I was entering Bangladesh with husks imported from India. At that time, the agent of the revolution in India said, Grandfather, take these goods, the revolution will take them on the other side. Will give you three thousand rupees. But I did not understand that there is alcohol here. Thinking of other goods, I am now in danger."
