Fahmida Khatun, executive director of CPD, said that the way food prices are increasing in the market is unreasonable. Prices of imported goods are increasing due to global reasons, and there is not enough reason to increase the prices - the prices of those local products are also increasing. It is not consistent.

He said this in the keynote address at the seminar titled 'Economy in crisis, what action plan can be' organized by the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) in Brac on Saturday (December 17).

Fahmida Khatun said, due to high inflation, people with fixed incomes are coping with the situation by reducing food. This poses a risk of productivity disruption.

He said that the importers withdraw money from one bank but keep it in another bank. Deposits from the banking sector will create risk in the banking sector. So appointing observers in banks just to 'watch' will not solve the problem. Effective efforts should be taken.
