Bangabandhu Tunnel can be inaugurated around March-April
Bangabandhu Tunnel is being built under the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong. More than 95 percent of the tunnel work has been completed so far. "It will take some time to complete the rest of the work," Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, "but we hope that the Bangabandhu Tunnel can be inaugurated by March-April this year."
General Secretary of Awami League said all these things in an exchange meeting with journalists at the circuit house conference room of the city today, Friday (January 13).
When the journalists asked for the second time when the tunnel will be inaugurated, Obaidul Quader said that the tunnel will be inaugurated soon.
He said that due to the ongoing economic recession, there is no possibility of any such complication in the case of tunnels, even though there have been complications with the concession of money for many large projects. Moreover, maximum safety of the tunnel will be ensured as part of the government's priority projects. Once upon a time no one thought that Bangabandhu would transform Chittagong into a city through the construction of the Shanghai Tunnel. I think, Chittagong will be one city to town.
Referring to the global situation, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the price of all things including fuel has increased in our country, there is no doubt about it. Still, considering the global situation due to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister, the reserve position of Bangladesh is still good. Reserves of a developing country like Bangladesh are now 34 billion dollars. The country still has reserves to import for 5 months. There is a strong glimpse into the ongoing trend of the country's economy. In the future, the per capita income and GDP of the people of the country will increase further.
Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury and General Secretary AJM Nashir Uddin, South District Awami League General Secretary Mofizur Rahman, North District Awami League General Secretary Sheikh Ataur Rahman, District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman and others were present in the exchange meeting.
