Ukraine claims to have shot down a Russian surveillance balloon
Ukraine's military claims to have shot down six Russian surveillance balloons. Qatar-based Al Jazeera reported this information in a report on Thursday (February 16).
Ukrainian forces claimed to have detected a giant balloon in the sky over Kiev on Wednesday (February 15). It is said that at least 6 balloons were identified, which were being used for espionage.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuri Ihnat, said, "Russia flew this balloon to know our position and defense strategy in the battlefield. But we have successfully destroyed these balloons which were flown for espionage.
Meanwhile, Kiev claims major successes in the war of resistance. They claim that 50 percent of the tanks of the Russian army have been destroyed in the battlefield in the counterattack of the Ukrainian forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, "As time goes on, we are succeeding on the battlefield." Especially in the last 4 days, several areas have been de-occupied. A large part of the Russian armored division was destroyed. Right now we need stronger weapons.
However, Moscow has rejected these claims. According to the Russian side, the Russian forces have consolidated their positions in Luhansk. In this heated situation, the United States has started the process of sending new shipments of weapons to Ukraine.
