'Tax free benefits in ICT sector to be offered till 2030'
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said Bangladesh has entered the semiconductor era. Talented engineers of the country will earn around USD 10 million by 2031 by exporting 'Made in Bangladesh' chips manufactured in the country through their work.
The state minister said this in his speech as the chief guest at the 'Test Lab' opening ceremony on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the country's famous semiconductor design company 'Ulkasemir' at Rahmans Regnum Center in the capital on Thursday.
He said that the talented youth of this country are not behind anyone in their talent and creativity, one of the examples is 'Ulkasemi'. He also said that 'Startup Bangladesh' will invest for the development of Ulkasemi.
The State Minister said that tax-free benefits for the ICT sector will be extended from 2024 to 2030.
He also said that through the 'Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE)' project of the ICT Department, 20,000 university graduates will be trained to build future-oriented skilled manpower. Out of this, 4 thousand people will be skilled in frontier technology. Besides, 'VLSI' labs will be established in 10 universities.
At the same time, the minister also said that although it is not possible to spend 300 million in a short time, a nano lab will be set up in Buet by investing 15 million dollars.
Chairman of Ulkasemi Enayetur Rahman, CEO and its subsidiary Titon Electronics CEO Mizanur Rahman, former Cabinet Secretary Anwarul Islam, Chairman of IPDC Finance Dr. Abdul Karim, FBCCI Director Shafkat Haider Chowdhury, Startup Bangladesh Managing Director Sami Ahmed were present on the occasion.
