Ukraine will never surrender to Russia: Zelensky to US Congress

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left for the United States on a surprise visit on Wednesday. This is his 1st foreign visit after the Ukraine-Russia attack.

Meanwhile, he has also held a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House. After the meeting, the leaders of the two countries held a joint press conference. Apart from this, Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the US Congress. The American broadcaster CNN reported this information in a report.

During a speech to Congress, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that he was grateful for the unwavering support of the United States in Ukraine's war against Russia. He welcomed such strong sanctions against Moscow. Apart from this, he expected more help from the US government. This time he said, "Ukraine will never surrender."

He also termed the US assistance as an 'investment in democracy' and said that US cooperation is not a 'charity issue'.

Before Zelensky's visit to the United States, President Biden said the United States would send Kiev a $1.8 billion aid package in addition to Patriot missile defense systems.

Meanwhile, British media BBC reported that Joe Biden reiterated his vow to stand by Ukraine until the end. In a joint press conference, he said, "We need the war to end." This war could have ended today if Putin had the decency to do the right thing. If he could tell the soldiers, come back. However, this will not happen. So the US and its allies will eventually cooperate to win the war against Ukraine.'

Earlier in his trip to the US, Zelensky said in a Twitter post that he was visiting the US to "strengthen the defense and defense" of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the news organization AFP called this visit a "very sensitive" visit in a report, saying that he is visiting the United States at a time when US lawmakers will vote on approving a $4,500 billion aid package to Ukraine.

Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera said that the Kremlin is not looking at Zelensky's visit. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by Al-Jazeera as saying that the Ukrainian president's visit will not bring anything good. The US has been supplying arms to Kiev and is steadily increasing. This will certainly increase the intensity of the war.
