UN resolution to end Ukraine war passed, Bangladesh did not vote
Russia's invasion of Ukraine entered its second year on Friday (February 24). The voting in the special session of the United Nations General Assembly to stop the war in the two neighboring countries took place yesterday on Thursday. It passed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine and a cessation of hostilities. 141 countries voted on that proposal.

32 countries including Bangladesh abstained from voting on the proposal. Notable among these countries are India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Cuba, Congo, Armenia and Vietnam.
Seven countries, including Russia, voted against the resolution. The countries are - Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua and Syria.
Former Soviet states Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have also expressed their neutral stance on the proposal.
Three other South Asian countries, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bhutan, voted in favor of the resolution. Myanmar voted in favor of the resolution. Since the attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, four resolutions against Russia have been brought to the United Nations. Bangladesh has voted in favor of one of them. Abstained from voting on other proposals.
