Risky Bangabazar could not be broken due to obstruction of owners: Mayor Tapas
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) declared Bangbazar dangerous four years ago, said the mayor of the organization, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas.
He said, Bangbazar market was declared risky by the corporation in 2019. Then the initiative to construct a new building was taken. But at that time the market association filed a writ in the High Court seeking a stay on the construction of the new building and the High Court granted the stay. The City Corporation had nothing to do with it.
He said these things in a press conference at Dhaka South City Corporation office Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday (April 4) afternoon. State Minister for Relief and Disaster Management. Enamur Rahman was present.
At that time, the state minister for relief and disaster management said that 5 thousand small traders were affected by the fire. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself is overseeing this accident.

Main Uddin said that the fire service has issued a total of 10 notices from 2019 to 2022, identifying the market in Bangbazar as dangerous. Still the traders did not take it into consideration.
