Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the rich of the society to stand by the poor, destitute and helpless. He said, the government is working to ensure settlement of every landless and homeless people. Not a single person will be landless or addressless in Bangladesh. That is our goal. He said this when a delegation of Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) came to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office on Sunday. After the meeting, Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon briefed the journalists.

The press secretary said that 36 banks have given a total of Tk 113.25 crores for the construction of houses for the homeless and landless people under the shelter project. Calling on all sections of the society to come forward to build houses for the country's homeless and landless, Sheikh Hasina said, not only the government, but all of us together will take the country forward on the path of development. He also said that the standard of living of many homeless and landless people has changed after getting agricultural land and houses. Most of them have been given land and houses within it. There are currently only a few left. Accommodation is also being constructed for them. Those who have received a home from this shelter project - there can be no greater achievement than the happiness of their faces and the satisfaction of their hearts.

The Prime Minister said that many people who got two decimal lands under the Asryan scheme have started vegetable farming, poultry farming, cottage industries and shops there. They have clearly found a way to survive this way. Acquiring this land and house is changing (improving) their living conditions.

Thanking BAB and bankers for giving the grant money, he said, "There is no need for me to tell you (about the grant payment). You come forward spontaneously during any calamity and crisis. Sheikh Hasina also said that the country is moving forward on the road to prosperity by facing all natural and man-made disasters. Highlighting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world economy and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, he said, "We are not in a big problem like other countries." We are overcoming our problems.
