Parliament elections will be held according to the country's governance system: Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said that the participation of all parties is necessary for the election. The next national election in this country will be according to the constitution. Any other thought is wrong. Because, we always believe in the constitution and rule of law. He informed that there is no need to teach Bangladesh democracy.
He made these comments after a program at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Wednesday (April 5).
The foreign minister told reporters that changing the constitution is not possible in any way. However, the government will try to have a fair election with everyone's participation. All parties have already been invited to the elections. I hope they will respond to the government's call.
Regarding the upcoming visit to the country at the invitation of the Secretary of State of the United States, he said that the United States often brings up one issue - they want a free, transparent and fair election in Bangladesh. The current government also wants transparent, fair and acceptable elections. Because Awami League has formed the government through elections. There is no quarrel here.
Commenting that the United States is giving importance to Bangladesh, he said that the United States is our biggest friend. It is the only country that has given free vaccinations during the Corona pandemic. Largest trading partner as a single country. Similarly, the United States continues to provide the most humanitarian aid to the Rohingya. Other countries helped a lot in the beginning but have cut back recently.
Abdul Momen said that institutions have been established for acceptable elections. Biometric identity cards and transparent ballot boxes have been introduced to prevent fraudulent voting. Independent Election Commission has been formed. The government must assist them in organizing acceptable elections. But only the government will not do; All political parties including people, voters, opposition parties, media should cooperate.
