State Minister of Labor calls for payment of salaries and allowances before the Eid holiday
Minister of State for Labor and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian has urged garment workers to pay their salaries and bonuses for the month of March before Eid.
He made this call to the owners at the 14th meeting of the Tripartite Consultative Council (RMG TCC) at the capital's Vijayanagar Shram Bhavan conference room on Wednesday (April 5) afternoon.
The Labor State Minister said that the owners will give bonuses before Eid so that the workers can celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr well. According to the rules, pay the salary of seven working days of April. If March salary is outstanding in two factories, it must be paid before the Eid holiday. In conjunction with government holidays, workers-owners will decide on holidays in factory-by-factory discussions.
In the meeting, the owners voted against specifying the salary bonus issue. The owners have not made any promises regarding the payment of April salary. They said that the salary and allowances will be paid through employer-employee understanding. Many factories will pay bonuses before workers ask for them. Factories which may be struggling to pay bonuses to workers will be identified and arrangements will be made for payment of salaries and allowances.
In the meeting, the industrial police said that if the workers do not get their salary before Eid after working for the whole month, then it is not possible for anyone to handle the situation arising from this. The owners will pay salaries and allowances on time so that everyone can have a good Eid.
