Investigation report against Babul-Ilyas 21 March
The court has fixed March 21 as the date for submitting the investigation report of the case made by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) against four people including journalist Ilyas Hossain and former police SP Babul Akhtar. The other two defendants in the case are Babul Akhter's brother Md. Habibur Rahman Labu (45) and father Md. Abdul Wadud Mia (72).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam on Tuesday (February 14) fixed this day for submitting the investigation report of the case. Today was scheduled for submission of investigation report in the case. The judge fixed a new date as the investigation officer did not submit the report.
Sub-inspector Mahfuz, general registration officer of Dhanmondi police station of the court, informed the matter. The other accused in this case are Babul Akhter's father Abdul Wadud Mia and brother Habibur Rahman Labu.
Before this, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) chief Banaj Kumar Majumder filed a case as a plaintiff at Dhanmondi police station in the capital on September 27 last year. The case has been charged under the Digital Security Act and the Special Powers Act.
The PBI chief complained in the statement of the case that, while the sensational Mitu murder case of the PBI under my leadership, the former police superintendent Babul Aktar was revealed as the main accused in the investigation. He was arrested during the investigation. Babul Akhtar, who is in jail, and journalist Ilyas, who is staying abroad, and the rest of the accused took refuge in a conspiracy to divert the investigation of the case to different sectors and undermine the image of the police.
In continuation of this, on the direct and indirect instigation of Babul Akhtar and other accused, journalist Ilyas Hossain uploaded a documentary video clip titled 'Stri Khun Sami Jele Khuni Phaiy Invesgiri Vishki' through his Facebook ID on September 3, 2022. About which I came to know on September 4.
He complained and said that through various false and baseless information in the video, the investigation of Mitu's murder case under investigation is being tried to be diverted into a different sector with controversial and questionable investigation. After reviewing the video, it can be seen that the speech broadcasted in Ilyas Hossain video incites to destroy the image of the country and the communal harmony of the country. Besides, the video has spread false, fabricated, baseless and misleading information to defame the Police and the Special Investigation Agency of the Police, PBI and especially me. For which it creates a negative attitude among the common people of the country.
The PBI chief said in the statement that the video was an attempt to damage the image of the state and Bangladesh's friendly relations with India, a friendly country. Enmity, hatred between the Hindu-Muslim communities of the state has destroyed communal harmony and has also tended to create unrest and chaos.
In addition, Banaj Kumar presented various evidences and facts claiming the various facts and statements of the video documentary as false.
