Locals became suspicious when dogs were seen dragging something wrapped in polythene in the area on Saturday morning. They informed Mongla police. The police went to the spot and opened the polythene and found the body of a newborn. It is believed that the body was dumped on Saturday morning.
According to local residents and Mongla Thana-Police sources, local people got suspicious when they saw something wrapped in polythene lying on the side of the road in the morning. Later, curious people approached and suspected the presence of the newborn's body.
Mongla Thana Police went to the spot after receiving the information. Then they opened the polythene and found the body of the newborn. It is believed that the body was dumped this morning.
Prabhas Chandra Das, in-charge of Brahmanbaria town No. 1 outpost, said that passers-by informed the police after seeing the body of a newborn child wrapped in polythene lying in front of Sadar Hospital quarters on the side of the road. After receiving the news, the body of the newborn child was recovered and sent to the mortuary of the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
