Doubts over BDR rebellion still gone: GM Quader
Chairman of Jatiya Party and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Parliament GM Quader has expressed doubts about the government's judicial process in the case of BDR rebellion on February 25, 2009.
He made this comment in front of the journalists after paying respects to the graves of 57 soldiers killed in the Banani Military Cemetery on Saturday (February 25) at 10:30 am. He said that there is doubt among the family of the martyrs and the common people about the trial which the government has conducted.
GM Quader said, there has been a trial in the case of rebellion, some families have been rehabilitated. However, I have always seen an anger in the public mind, including the martyr's family. They think that such a big incident happened, but its trial process was not very transparent. I think the government will look into this. We want the families of the martyrs to be satisfied by getting proper justice for the brutal murders.
The party chairman said, "I and the martyr's family think that the trial process was not completely fair." We also did not see the trial or investigation process that way. Even those who lost their relatives, did not see them satisfied.
He also said that such a big incident happened and nothing was known beforehand, it is unusual. Our detectives, the intelligence units that work, could not see anything about the incident!
If they were worried then, why didn't they take appropriate action? And if they didn't, why wasn't any action taken against their failure?
Earlier, their military secretaries on behalf of the Prime Minister and the President paid tearful tributes at the graves of these martyred soldiers. Then Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, followed by Awami League's Mahbubul Alam Hanif paid tribute.
After that Army Chief SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Shaheen Iqbal and many others paid their respects.
