The central bank has announced to increase the value of commemorative gold coins after the record price of gold in the state market. The rate of each currency has been increased by five thousand rupees to 83 thousand rupees. The price hike is said to be due to the rise in gold prices in the international and local markets.

Bangladesh Bank has informed this information in a circular on Tuesday (January 17). The new rate will be effective from Wednesday (January 18).
According to the notification, the rates of commemorative gold coins printed by Bangladesh Bank on 'International Mother Language Day-2000', 'Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary' and 'Golden Jubilee of Independence 1971-2021' have been revised. Each commemorative coin is made of 22 carat gold and weighs 10 grams each. The commemorative gold coins (with box) have been revalued at Tk 83,000 each. So far this gold commemorative coin was sold for 78 thousand taka.

Besides, recently there are 11 commemorative silver coins (fine silver) in the market. It includes- Bangladesh Independence Silver Jubilee-1996, Bangladesh Bank Silver Jubilee-1996, Bangabandhu Bridge Inauguration-1998 Bangladesh's 40th Victory Anniversary, 'Bidrohi' Poem 90 Years-Rabindranath Tagore's 50th Birth Anniversary-2011, ICC Cricket World Cup-Bangladesh 2011, Bangladesh National Museum centenary 1913-2013, birth centenary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, golden jubilee of independence 1971-2021 and 50 years of Bangladesh-Japan diplomatic relations have coins.
These silver commemorative coins weigh from 20 grams to 31.47 grams. The price of these commemorative silver coins is 5 thousand taka.
First of all, on Saturday (January 14), the Bangladesh Jewelers' Meeting (BAJUS) increased the price of good quality gold by Tk 2,683 in the country's market. This new price of gold is effective from Sunday (January 15).

According to the new rate, from Sunday, 93 thousand 429 taka is needed to buy gold per 22 carat, which till Saturday was 90 thousand 746 taka, the price of 21 carat gold has been increased by 2566 taka to 89 thousand 171 taka, now to buy gold per 18 carat It takes 76 thousand 458 taka and the traditional gold price is increased by 1458 taka to 63 thousand 336 taka.
Before January 14 this year, Bajus had raised gold rates on January 7. Which is effective from January 8. At that time the price of silver was increased along with gold. However, on January 14 Bajus announcement, the value of silver has been kept unchanged.
According to the category, the price of 22 carat silver has been selected at 1 thousand 715 taka per load, the price of 21 carat silver has been selected at 1 thousand 633 taka, the price of 18 carat silver has been selected at 1400 taka and the price of traditional silver has remained unchanged at 1050 taka.
