People's life disrupted by intense heat, there is loadshedding-water crisis
People's life has become unstable due to severe heat wave. Loadshedding and water shortages have been in dire straits for several days.
The maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 40.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday (April 15). The temperature was above 40.2 degrees on the first day of Baisakh.
Loadshedding and water crisis have occurred in several areas of the capital including Badda, Banshree, Mirpur in the ongoing severe heat wave. In this situation, the elderly and children are getting sick.
Abdus Chamad, a resident of Madhya Badda, said there was no electricity for two and a half to three hours before and after Sehri on Saturday. Everyone in the family has difficulty sleeping and waking up. If this situation continues, the whole family will get sick.
Shakil Ahmed, a resident of Mirpur, said that the power went out an hour ago.
Along with load shedding, there is also a crisis in water supply in various parts of the capital. Due to the ongoing work of laying water pipes in Wasar, there is a shortage of water in some places.
Apart from this, the residents of Adabar, Shekhertek, Mehdibagh, Mansoorabad, Mohammadia housing in the capital reported water shortage.
Ayesha Begum, a resident of North Adabar, said that there is water for some time at night. Then you have to store water in buckets, bottles or jars. As there is no water in the morning, water has to be brought from other areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, an area with temperatures between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius is called a severe heatwave. And when the temperature is between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius, it is called a moderate heat wave and when the temperature is between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius, it is called a mild heat wave.
