The runway of Shahjalal Airport will be closed for 5 hours for two months

This work will start from 2 pm on Thursday (February 2). Air traffic will be suspended from 2 pm to 7 am every day. Flights at this time have been shifted to other times of the day.

The airport authority said that an initiative has been taken to install runway central line lights at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. It will increase the capacity in flight management. For this, the runway will be closed from 2 pm to 7 am from February 2 to April 3.

A notice has been issued in this regard by the ATM department of the airport. There may be flight pressure before and after light replacement i.e. 7 am to 11:30 am and 10 pm to 2 am. The airport authority has taken plans for flight management and other matters in coordination with the related government and private institutions including the airport traffic department to make the journey of the passengers smooth and uninterrupted. • Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAB) has taken the initiative to upgrade the Instrument Landing System (ILS) to Category-2 at Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Cox's Bazar airports. The work of Sylhet airport has already been completed. The work of Chittagong will be completed by the end of next year. It will be completed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka within three months. Its equipment has also arrived. At the same time, the lighting system is also being developed.
