Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder commented that the economic situation of the country will not be worse than the present. Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder said this at a press conference organized on Sunday on the occasion of announcing the monetary policy for the second half of the current financial year.
He said, "The resilience of our economy is deeper. Bangladesh's economy will not collapse with any 1 shock. We have turned around in Corona. It cannot get any worse than the current situation.”

Three challenges have been mentioned in the new monetary policy to turn around the economy of Bangladesh. These are the scope of the Russia-Ukraine war, the US Federal Reserve Bank's aggressive interest rate hikes and China's corona situation. The governor said in this regard, "I can say for sure, the faster these three challenges are solved, the faster the economy of Bangladesh will bounce." Even if the situation of these three existing challenges worsens, the state's economy will not be worse than the current state. In the short term our country's economy will be stable. We hope that better days will come soon.”

After announcing the monetary policy, the governor had questions, you said by yoga - the dollar crisis will end in January, but still the crisis is not over. When will this be cut?
In response, Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder said, "I have taken various steps to reduce imports after I joined. Measures have been taken so that loans are not opened at higher prices. As a result of these measures, imports have decreased. Current monthly expenditure on imports is greater than exports and foreign earnings. But the previous import liability has to be paid now. So it will take some days like this to overcome the dollar problem. Also depends on the Russia-Ukraine war, interest rate hikes by the US central bank and China's coronavirus, the issue of dollar-crisis resolution.
When asked why it was withdrawn after taking action against banks that profited in the dollar-crisis, the governor said, “12 banks made a profit of Tk 1,340 million by taking advantage of the dollar crisis. These banks have been directed to use half of that profit for social responsibility (CSR) sector.
