The prime minister urges government universities to create their own funds
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged university teachers to be more attentive and responsible to make students useful for the country. Besides, he also suggested to build own fund through Alumni Association for the development and welfare work of the government universities of the country.
He said these things during a courtesy meeting with the members of the standing committee of the 'Bangladesh University Council' consisting of vice-chancellors of various public universities at Ganabhaban on Thursday (January 19). Later, Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon briefed the reporters in this regard.
Calling on students to be made as skilled human resources, the Prime Minister said that along with studies, students should be made capable of working for the development of the country. Bangladeshi students are very talented, if they are given a chance, they can complete their university studies and bring higher degrees from abroad.

Sheikh Hasina said that the students of the university should be kept away from terrorism and militancy by engaging them in sports, cultural activities and creative work in addition to studies. For this purpose, the head of government said that the initiative to start the inter-university competition again.
The Awami League president said that once there was a clang of weapons in the universities, but after the Awami League came to power, there is no clang of weapons and terrorism and militancy in the country have been suppressed with a firm hand.
Mentioning that the government has given status to the development of the capacity of the youth, he said that measures have been taken so that the youth can become entrepreneurs and give jobs to others instead of chasing jobs after studying.
He said that every time Awami League came to power, the rate and quality of education in the country increased, he said, he gave importance to education, research, and excellence as well as skill development.

The Prime Minister said that the government is gradually taking the country towards industrialization by protecting the balance of the environment. The Chief Minister said that the government has developed Digital Bangladesh under the guidance of his Information and Communication Technology Advisor Sajib Wazed Joy.
In the event, the vice-chancellors of the government universities highlighted the various problems of their respective universities. The Prime Minister listened to them attentively and assured to solve them.
