Court spokesman Masud Setayeshi said that Bar Sajjad Haidari was sentenced to seven and a half years for murder and eight months for torture. The sentence came because Mona's family "forgave" rather than seek revenge.

Besides, Sajjad Haidari's brother has been sentenced to 45 months imprisonment in this case for aiding in the murder.
Last year in Iran's Ahvaz province, husband Sajjad Haidari cut off the head of his housewife Mona and went out with it in his hands. A video of this incident went viral on social media. There is a lot of discussion and criticism about this.

Mona got married at the age of 12 and became the mother of a 14-year-old son. Mona fled to Turkey after being tortured by her husband. But when she returned from Turkey, her husband beheaded her.
