Germany will cooperate in the development of solar power irrigation system in Bangladesh

Germany will support the development of solar irrigation system in Bangladesh. Agriculture Minister Dr. in the relevant ministry of Berlin in the afternoon of Berlin local time on Wednesday.

German minister at the meeting. Koffler highlighted the success of their aided conventional projects in Bangladesh and promised to scale up such ongoing aid to climate adaptation in Bangladesh's agriculture sector.

Minister of Agriculture and Awami League presidium member Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak highlighted the incredible success achieved in the last 14 years in the agricultural sector of Bangladesh. He said, 'Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in food. Bangladesh ranks 3rd in rice production, 3rd in vegetable production, 3rd in onion production, 7th in mango and potato production in the world. Sufficient fruits including mango, jackfruit, papaya are being exported to many countries.

The Minister of Agriculture sought Germany's cooperation in exporting the surplus fruits and vegetables produced in Bangladesh to European markets including Germany. He sought Germany's cooperation in establishing international standard accredited labs, implementing Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and increasing climate adaptation capacity in agriculture, especially for increasing the export of agricultural products.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture said in the meeting. Ruhul Amin Talukder, Minister of Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin. Saiful Islam and Javed Iqbal were present.

To be noted, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) organized the 4-day (January 18-21) '15th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA)' and Agriculture Minister Dr. Razzaq arrived in Berlin on Wednesday afternoon. One of the world's largest conferences on agri-food is held every year.

More than 70 countries' agriculture ministers and representatives of 10 international organizations are participating in this conference. In this conference launched under the title of 'Food System Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crises', the high-level representatives and agriculture ministers of the participating countries will discuss and announce a 'Joint Manifesto' (communique) in the next four days.
