The supply of fish in Mirpur's number one Shah Ali market is good, but the price of hilsa is high. Seller Hira Lal said, "Hilsha is 1,000 taka per kg, before it was 900 taka."
At Swapan Mia's shop, a nearby fishmonger, prawns are being sold at Tk 600 to Tk 1,000 per kg depending on the species, which was Tk 500 to Tk 800 two weeks ago.
The price of carp including Rui, Katla, Mrigel has increased by Tk 40 compared to last week and is being sold at Tk 340 to Tk 360 per kg.
In the market, you can't find desi tengra, horn or boal fish for less than 500 rupees. The price of these fish, which was limited to Tk 650 last week, has gone up to Tk 800.
Yamin Hossain, a private employee selling fish in Mirpur Shah Ali market, said, "If one increases, the other will be fine, there is no such situation in the market. The price of fish is increasing by 100-150 taka per kg, is this a thing? Buying one cannot buy another. A lot of cuts have to be made.”
The spice market is 'scary'

Imported ginger costing up to Tk 350 a kg is now difficult to get in the market. As a result, the price of native ginger is increasing. Ginger sold at Tk 140 to Tk 160 per kg has not been matched by Tk 180 this week.
To buy imported garlic, one has to calculate from 180 to 200 taka. The price of dry chili is 400 to 500 taka per kg as before.
