The hearing of framing of charges in the NAICO corruption case is on January 30
The court has fixed January 30 as the date for hearing the charge sheet against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the much-discussed NAICO corruption case.
Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of the No. 9 (Temporary) Special Judge Court of Dhaka located in Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on Tuesday (January 17).
On this day, a lawyer appeared on behalf of Khaleda. After that, lawyer AJ Muhammad Ali heard on his behalf seeking exemption from framing of charges. As the hearing did not end today, he fixed January 30 as the next day. In this case, the hearing on behalf of the ACC and the other accused has ended.

According to the source of the case, on December 9, 2007, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Muhammad Mahbubul Alam filed a corruption case against five people including Khaleda Zia at the Tejgaon police station on charges of causing financial loss and corruption to the state through an opaque contract with the Canadian company Niko.
On May 5, 2018, a charge sheet was filed against 11 people including Khaleda Zia. They were accused of causing financial loss of about 13 thousand 777 crores to the state.

The accused in the case are - BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Maudud Ahmad (deceased), former Minister of State for Energy AKM Mosharraf Hossain (deceased), then Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Kamal Uddin Siddiqui, former Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Khandkar Shahidul Islam, former Senior Assistant Secretary CM Yusuf Hossain, former general manager of BAPEX Mir Moinul Haque, former secretary of BAPEX. Shafiur Rahman, businessman Ghiyas Uddin Al Mamun, International Travel Corporation Chairman Salim Bhuiyan and NAICO South Asia Vice President Kashem Sharif.
