Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave a statement on the occasion of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's fifth imprisonment day on Wednesday evening.
In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "Today, February 8, is a shameful day in the history of Bangladesh politics. On this day in 2018, the vengeful Awami League government has unjustly detained the most popular leader of Bangladesh, Khaleda Zia, in a false case of depoliticization of the government during the emergency of 1/11 due to political revenge. Not only was he detained with a formal sentence, he was deprived of his right to bail and unjustly imprisoned for 25 months. In the absence of proper treatment while in captivity, his illness worsened and his life was threatened.'
