A 'smoke bomb' was thrown at Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. However, he was removed from the scene unharmed.

This information is known in a report of Al-Jazeera, an international media based in Qatar, on Saturday (April 15).

According to the report, the attack took place in the city of Wakayama, Japan. A person has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

The prime minister was scheduled to address a rally in Wakayama city on Saturday. The bomb was hurled at him immediately after he got on the stage at the appointed time.

According to the initial investigation of law and order forces, the bomb was not lethal. The Japanese news agency Kyodo News Agency reported that various media of the country said that the object that was thrown at the Prime Minister was a 'smoke bomb'. Such bombs produce a large amount of smoke but do not cause explosive damage.

No injuries or damage were reported in Saturday's explosion. A young man was arrested by law enforcement officers immediately after the bomb exploded in the CCTV footage of the scene. Those who had gathered to hear the Prime Minister's speech also scattered after the blast.

The police did not reveal the name of the arrested youth.

Before this, former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot dead in July 2022. He was shot at during an election campaign speech.
