Gun attack on synagogue in Jerusalem, 8 killed including the attacker

7 people were killed and 3 others injured in a gun attack on a synagogue (Jewish place of worship) in the suburbs of Israeli-occupied Jerusalem.

  The assailant himself was shot dead by the police while fleeing after the attack.

• The attack happened around 8:30 pm local time. People were gathering at the synagogue for special prayers on Saturday, the weekly Jewish holy day, when the assailant attacked.
  CCTV footage showed a masked man firing indiscriminately at the crowd outside the synagogue, injuring several people who were lying on the road.

Referring to this incident as a 'terrorist activity', the Jerusalem police said in a statement on Friday night that the attacker was approximately 21 years old. He is a Palestinian and a resident of East Jerusalem.
