Ship sank in Meghna carrying 11 lakh liters of fuel oil

An oil tanker named Sagar Nandini-2 with 11 lakh liters of oil sank in Meghna, Bhola. However, 13 people including the master and staff on board were rescued alive. The incident took place in Tulatuli area of Bhola Sadar upazila at around 4 am on Sunday.
The staff of the rescued ship said that they loaded 900 tons of Octane-Diesel from Chittagong Port and left for Padma Depot at Ghat No. 5 of Chandpur on Saturday. At around 4 o'clock on Sunday, Tulatuli of Bhola Sadar upazila came to the Meghna river and due to fog, another ship coming from behind hit it. This caused water to enter near the rear engine room of the ship. The ship sank immediately. A sandbar bulkhead on the side rescued them all alive.

The staff also said that there has been a loss of 9 crores in the amount of oil in the ship. Apart from this, they also alleged that some of the oil from the sunken ships was taken away by local fishermen. When the locals tried to take oil from the sinking ship, everyone got away after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
Meanwhile, Coast Guard South Zone officer Solaiman said, "80 parts of the ship were lowered and 20 parts were raised." Efforts are underway to rescue the ship.
