Relocation of Rohingyas to Bhasanchar with UN support: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought the assistance of Gwen Lewis, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, to relocate forcibly displaced Rohingya from Myanmar to Bhasanchar.

Sheikh Hasina made this call when Gwen Lewis came to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban on Monday morning.
Prime Minister's speech writer M. Nazrul Islam quoted the Prime Minister as saying, "Sheikh Hasina said that since there is no guarantee that the Rohingyas will be sent back to their home country very soon, the Rohingyas should be shifted to better places and the United Nations can help in this regard." After the meeting, M. Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists.

Sheikh Hasina said
- Prime Minister's speech writer Nazrul Islam quoted the Prime Minister as saying that Sheikh Hasina said that since there is no guarantee that the Rohingyas will be sent back to their home country soon, the Rohingyas should be shifted to Bhasanchar to give them a better quality of life and the United Nations can help in this regard.
The head of the government of Bangladesh said that the Rohingyas are currently living in a densely populated Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
He further said that if the Rohingyas can be shifted to Bhasanchar with livelihood system, they will be able to live a dignified life in a livable environment. Because more than 100,000 people are accommodated here.
The Prime Minister mentioned that although a large number of Rohingyas have been sheltered in Bangladesh for humanitarian reasons, they have now become a big burden for Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister thanked the United Nations for its cooperation since the Rohingyas took refuge in Bangladesh. He expressed hope that the United Nations will continue this assistance.
