BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the people have to pay the price for the unlimited corruption and irregularities of the government in the power sector.
Mirza Fakhrul made this comment in a statement on Tuesday. In the statement, he strongly protested and condemned the increase in electricity prices at the wholesale and retail levels.
Mirza Fakhrul
- Mirza Fakhrul Islam said that there is a severe crisis in the country's economy and public life due to the government's failure, corruption and wrongdoing. The rise in the prices of daily necessities, the cost of living, is a major blow to the government's decision. He thinks that after raising the price of electricity at the wholesale level two months ago, this time due to the increase in the price at the retail level, the cost of agricultural irrigation and production will increase. As a result, the cost of living and retail prices will also increase.

Mirza Fakhrul demanded immediate withdrawal of the government's anti-people decision to increase electricity prices.
He said that on February 4, a departmental rally will be held to demand reduction in the prices of gas, electricity and daily essential commodities along with 10 points across the country. He urged the people to protest this anti-people decision of the government by making the rally a success.
He said that because it is not the people's government, they are repeatedly increasing the prices of electricity, gas, fuel oil, edible oil, fertilizers and other essential commodities to the people. The government has no regrets in this matter, rather they are lying shamelessly in favor of these Tughlaki cases.
Fuel price
- The anti-people government has increased electricity prices 11 times in the last 14 years. Last year fuel prices were increased at a record rate. Gas prices have been raised by a record amount in one month.
In the statement, Mirza Fakhrul also said that the government is doing retail tricks by increasing the price of electricity. Until now, the Energy Regulatory Commission used to increase the price through public hearings. There too, the price was increased on the government's instructions. This time the government itself has taken the responsibility of increasing the price by bypassing the Energy Regulatory Commission.
