Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy has paid deep respect to martyrs of all languages on February 21 Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day. On Monday (20th February) night, Sajeeb Wazed Joy paid deep respect to the martyrs with a video status on his verified Facebook account.
In its caption, he described how the International Mother Language Day was recognized step by step from Language Martyrs' Day on 21 February.
Sheikh Hasina's son Sajib Wazed writes, the proposal was raised at the Paris session of UNESCO held on November 17, 1999, and with the support of 188 countries, February 21 was declared as 'International Mother Language Day'. Since 21 February 2000, the day has been observed as 'International Mother Language Day'.

He also writes, "Since the creation of Pakistan, Bengali culture-art-literature has been attacked by West Pakistani exploiters. Bangla Tarun Samaj, led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, voiced its protest. The language movement continued under the direction of Sheikh Mujib, for which he had to go to jail again and again. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman protected the status of Bengali language even in the face of hundreds of obstacles. It is through this movement that our liberation struggle begins, freedom comes.
In Joy's words, 'And the privileged daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina brought a unique honor to the Bengali language. 21st February is now a special day for people of all languages all over the world.
Paying tribute to the language martyrs in the post, the Prime Minister's son commented, "Deep respect for those whose blood was exchanged for the language of their lives on the Great Martyrs' Day and the International Mother Language Day."
