I want new leadership to come: Sheikh Hasina
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Our committee will be dissolved." A new committee will be formed
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Our committee will be dissolved." A new committee will be formed. We have formed the Election Commission for that. From today we bid farewell, I want new leadership to come.
The prime minister said these things in the president's speech at the 22nd National Conference of Awami League at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday. Earlier, he inaugurated the conference by flying the dove symbol of peace and hoisting the national and party flags at the capital's historic Suhrawardy Udyan.
At the time of announcing the postponement of the first session of the conference, Sheikh Hasina said, 'Our second session is only for councillors. Our association will be dissolved. A new executive committee will be formed. We have also formed the Election Commission for that. That election commission will sit and name will be proposed. There will be new leadership. From today we bid farewell, I want new leadership to come.'
Earlier, in the speech of the chief guest at the conference, Sheikh Hasina said, "In my absence, I was made the president of such a conference." I left the responsibility of the children on Rehana. The only goal of my return to the country was that the benefits of freedom should reach people's homes.

He also said, 'Awami League has tried a lot to prevent it from coming to the government. But I will not hand over the needs of Bangladesh to anyone, that was my promise. The father of the nation wanted to develop and enrich the country. Unfortunately he couldn't do that. We are doing that. We have delivered electricity from room to room. However due to natural calamities we had to provide load shedding for few days. The current situation is normal.'
Sheikh Hasina said that the people of Bangladesh do not accept the theft of votes and said, "In 1996, Khaleda Zia wanted to become the prime minister by stealing the election." He won the election on 15 February and was forced to resign on 30 March. However, if someone steals votes, the people of Bangladesh do not accept him. Awami League made the Election Commission independent. Awami League has arranged transparent ballot boxes so that no one can steal votes and seal the ballot boxes beforehand.
He also said, "Unfortunately, we could not come to the government in 2001. I have said many times why I couldn't, and I don't need to say anymore. But the interests of Bangladesh will not be wasted in my life. I will not hand over to anyone. We are in power three times in a row. And because we are in this power, today we can take Bangladesh forward on the path of development. Where the budget of Bangladesh was only Tk 62 thousand crore, Awami League budgeted Tk 6 lakh 78 thousand 64 crore in this 22-23 financial year.
The head of government said, 'We have been able to give this budget even with special incentives to deal with the coronavirus. We have increased the growth rate in these few years. Whereas the father of the nation was able to raise the growth to 9 percent in the war-torn country. But after that those who seized power illegally, Zia government, Ershad government or Khaleda Zia government.. no one could increase the growth despite that. Only Awami League was able to raise this growth up to 8 percent.
