Rough stone statue worth about Tk 2 crore recovered in Chapainawabganj

While digging a soil drain from Tualbaripara village of Daldali Union of Bholahat Upazila of Chapainawabganj on Monday (January 23) around 11 am, the workers found two difficult stone statues.

Worker Md. Tojibul said that on Monday the said village. Saw the idol while digging the ground for a drain in the pig land. At this time, the local member of UP. Babu went to the scene and the chairman of the Union Parishad concerned. He informed Mozammel Haque.

Chairman Md. Mozammel Haque said, after receiving the news of getting the statue, immediately ask the village police to rescue it. Later both police and BGB forces arrived at the spot and recovered the idols and took them to the party union parishad premises.

Bholahat upazila executive officer Umme Tabassum was present at this time. He took the two idols to the Upazila Parishad square.

When this news spread, people from different places rushed to see the idol. The weight of the larger statue is about 82 kg and the smaller one is 67 kg 520 grams. According to BGB, the price is about a quarter of Tk 2 crore.

Upazila Executive Officer Umme Tabassum said that two idols will be sent to Chapainawabganj Treasury. From there, the idols will be handed over to the archeology department later, he said.
