Dreamliner seat handle broken, LED screen pulled out

Some seat handles of Biman Bangladesh Airlines' state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner have been broken. Another LCD monitor in front of the seat has been removed. The airline authorities believe that no passenger has done this.

Dreamliner seat handle broken, LED screen pulled out

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operates on Dhaka to Toronto route. Stopped at Istanbul, Turkey for 1 hour and 15 minutes midway. About 300 people are on the flight in this journey of about 21 hours. 

This week's incident of breaking the seat handle and removing the monitor. The case was caught during a routine check-up in Toronto. During the checkup, several seats of the aircraft were found to be in poor condition. The handles on both sides of a seat were broken.

Also, the LCD monitor of seat number 41C was uprooted and broken, garbage, used forks and spoons, empty water bottles were left on the floor. A number of seat handles were also broken off, with the broken handles somehow being taped up.

Biman is yet to know who or who carried out this destruction, whether it was done on purpose or not.

Managing Director (MD) of Biman Shafiul Azim told Dhaka Post in this regard that we have given instructions to identify the person or persons who caused this damage. Be it Canadian part or Bangladesh part, we will demand compensation from both sides. It has become a habit of passengers to do anything while sitting in the plane. The Dreamliner is one of the best aircraft in my fleet. We have directed to identify the passenger. 

Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has a total of 21 aircraft in its fleet. The plane that was damaged is a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a total of 298 seats. There are 30 seats in business class and 247 seats in economy class and 21 seats in premium economy class. It can fly about 14 thousand kilometers continuously.
