Gunman shoots in the United States: 6 dead, including a child

Six people, including a six-month-old baby and his teenage mother, were killed early Monday morning when gunmen opened fire at a home in California, USA. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux of the Tulare County Sheriff's Office told reporters this was a planned attack, which may be related to gang and drug-related violence.

According to the police, they believe that two men attacked the house and opened fire around 3:30 am on Monday. A neighbor informed the police. Seven minutes later, the police reached the spot and found the victims lying inside and outside the house.

Boudreaux said the whole situation is tragic. We also found the bodies of a 17-year-old mother and (her) six-month-old baby. Both of them were shot in the head.

Two people survived the attack as they hid inside the building. Apart from this, emergency treatment was given to some of the injured in the incident. One of the injured died shortly after being taken to hospital.

The sheriff said the attack appears to be drug related. We believe this is not an isolated incident of violence. The attack was carried out targeting the family.

He said the incident is linked to gang and drug investigations. A week ago, the police conducted a drug raid at this residence.

Tulare is a city of about 70,000 residents located in the San Joaquin Valley between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

About 49,000 people were killed by guns in the United States in 2021, more than half of which were suicides.
