Calls for Brazil to increase commercial cooperation
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called for increasing commercial cooperation between Bangladesh and Brazil.
Emphasizing the need to increase commercial cooperation between Bangladesh and Brazil, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that there is great potential for business expansion between the two countries.

Sheikh Hasina appealed to the Brazilian government to take steps to expand bilateral trade and business. In this context, he emphasized the signing of Preferential Trade Agreements (PTAs) or Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Brazil and three other Marcosur (Southern Common Market) countries - Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
He said, Bangladesh will finally graduate to a developing country in 2026.

Stating that the talks on signing the PTA or FTA with the Marcosu countries are continuing, the Prime Minister asked to complete the process of signing the agreement soon. He also stressed on increasing agricultural aid between Bangladesh and Brazil.
Regarding pharmaceuticals, the best export product of Bangladesh in the Brazilian market, he said, due to the registration procedure in the Brazilian market, the pharma items are currently facing some limitations. Sheikh Hasina has asked the Brazilian authorities to relax the ban.

Regarding the Rohingya issue, he said that Bangladesh has sheltered more than 1.1 million displaced Rohingyas, which has become a big burden for the country. He said that the displaced Rohingya population is increasing with the emergence of 30,000 new children every year.
The Prime Minister urged Brazil to play a strong role in the UN Security Council on the Rohingya issue. He congratulated the new president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Sheikh Hasina condoled the death of Brazilian football legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pele along with his family and the people of Brazil.

The ambassador said that there is a huge demand for Bangladeshi ready-made clothes in the Brazilian market. Brazil can be a huge market for Bangladeshi RMG products.
He said there is a huge scope for strengthening bilateral aid between the two countries, especially in the fields of trade and technology.
Paulo Fernando emphasized on increasing people-to-people and business-to-business contacts between the two countries.
