At least 32 people were killed and 147 injured in Monday's explosion, officials said.
A Pakistani Taliban commander, Sarbakaf Mohammad, claimed responsibility for the attack in a tweet on Monday afternoon. He claimed that the suicide attack on the mosque was part of a revenge attack for his brother's murder.
News agency AFP said Mohmand is the brother of slain TTP commander Umar Khalid Khorasani. Khorasani was killed in an operation in Afghanistan last August.

Meanwhile, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the country's outlawed militant group, has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on a mosque in Peshawar. According to the police, Imam Sahebzada Noor ul Amin of the mosque also died in the blast. Quoting official sources of the country, Geo News says that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah are going to visit the blast site.

He said, we are currently focused on the rescue operation. We can't say anything for sure right now. However, the smell of explosives was found inside the mosque. The area where the blast took place, houses the headquarters of Peshawar Police, CTD, FRP, Elite Force and Telecommunication Department.
Note that like the ruling armed Taliban group in Afghanistan, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) wants to oust the democratic government of Pakistan and form its own government. Tehreek-e-Taliban has been campaigning for the introduction of Sharia law across Pakistan for several years.
